The material

Where it comes from

A cured orchid pod, hand-pollinated and fermented for months. After saffron it is one of the most labour-intensive crops in the world, which is why most perfumery vanilla is at least partly synthetic vanillin.

Sweet, warm and creamy, with a slightly boozy, tobacco-like depth in the natural extract that vanillin alone does not have.
