The material
Wood oil, most often from Virginian or Atlas cedar. Distilled from sawmill offcuts, which makes it one of the more sustainable woods in use.
The smell
Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness with a faint sweetness. Clean rather than smoky.
On skin
A heart-to-base note. It gives structure — the thing that stops a sweet or floral composition from feeling shapeless.
