The material
The peel of a small green citrus grown almost entirely in Calabria, southern Italy. It is the same oil that flavours Earl Grey tea, cold-pressed from the rind rather than distilled.
The smell
Sharp citrus with a floral, faintly bitter lift — less sugary than orange, less sour than lemon. It smells expensive in a way plain citrus does not.
On skin
A top note. It is the brightness in the first ten minutes and it burns off fast, which is the point: it opens the door for the heart.
